Saint Bartholomew
A marvel of art and nature is the Hermitage of Saint Bartolomeo in Legio, in the Roccamorice area. Camouflaged in the rock at about 700 m, in the Vallone di Santo Spirito in the Majella National Park, the Saint lived there together with some disciples.
Saint Onofrio
In Sulmona, in the locality of Badia, set on a large rocky wall of Mount Morrone, stands the Hermitage of Saint Onofrio which preserves the memory of Pope Celestine V, who loved this place of great spirituality and charm. Known for its spectacular position, remodeled over the centuries and damaged during the last war, it still retains the severe and inaccessible aspect of the Saint's time.
Abbey of Saint Liberatore
The Abbey of San Liberatore a Majella represents one of the most significant examples of Abruzzo Romanesque architecture and one of the oldest medieval Benedictine churches. Built with the limestone of the Majella, it is a casket that preserves countless treasures.
Santa Maria del Lago
The beautiful Romanesque Abbey of Santa Maria del Lago rises just outside the center of Moscufo. Inside, it preserves the polychrome ambo by the master Nicodemo da Guardiagrele, a beautiful example of Romanesque sculpture.
The Abbey of Santa Maria Assunta
It rises in Montesanto and is one of the most evocative monuments of the entire Teramo area. It rises on top of an impervious hill that dominates the town of Civitella del Tronto. Tradition attributes the foundation of the Abbey to San Benedetto Abate even in 542.
St. John in Venus
An authentic masterpiece of medieval sacred architecture, the Abbey of San Giovanni in Venere stands majestically and proudly on a hill from which it dominates the jagged Adriatic coast. Located in the municipality of Fossacesia, it was erected by Benedictine monks on the remains of an ancient pagan temple dedicated to Venus Conciliatrice.
